TRON 3 Coming To Disney Plus?

Wait, what?
Um, yes please.

So, I can't believe that it's been a full decade since Tron: Legacy was released in 2010, and 38 years since the original Tron was released on July 9th, 1982. Cue my hair getting grayer.

That said, both were great films. Especially the sequel in 2010. Oh sure, there was something to be improved upon with the vide-game-like CGI representation of Jeff Bridges. But that, and any other flaw in the film, was more-than-made-up-for with the absolutely stellar soundtrack by Daft Punk.

Late last week I saw an article at Newsweek discussing the oft-rumored status of Tron 3, and some glimmers of details that may, or may not, be true:

[I]t seems that Disney may be going ahead with a sequel, the third movie in the franchise set in a computer world. Tron 3, which was once called Tron: Ascension and was rumored to be starring Jared Leto, could be coming soon, with Daft Punk returning from the last movie to provide another soundtrack.

Welp... I'm not a huge fan of Jared Leto. But, releasing the movie on Disney+ and bringing back Daft Punk to do the soundtrack might help to cancel the Leto out.

Some more details on the soundtrack:

The studio wants Daft Punk to return

"The right and first thing to do is to try and bring Daft Punk and would they want to," Leib said on Light the Fuse, "and the answer is they're always open to anything and everything, but you gotta take it as it comes and see what the circumstances are."

Hell yes. If you've never listened to the soundtrack from Legacy outside of the film, you're missing out. If you like that, there is also a really great remix album called Tron: Legacy, Reconfigured that is worth your time.

All of this to say that I'm really stoked that this sequel might actually get made before another ten years passes us by. Hit the Newsweek link above to read more about it.
